Five Leading Event Industry Personalities You Should Follow

Even if you’re completely confident in your capabilities as an event planner, there’s so much to be said for learning from those around you. There is so much insight to gain by watching someone who’s better than you, and working to figuring out why – and there will always be someone better than you.

Here are five leading event industry personalities that we follow and suggest that you follow as well. They offer insight and advice through their blogs, books, social media profiles or you can discover what makes them stand out by paying attention to their work.

Andrea Michaels ( @ExtraordinaryEv )

First up on our list is Andrea Michaels, president of Extraordinary Events and author of the award-winning Reflections of a Successful Wallflower: Lessons in Business: Lessons in Life.   She’s won over 35 Special Event Gala Awards, and has even been inducted into the Special Event Industry Hall of Fame. Her company is famous for working hand-in-hand with its clients; the client has a say at every stage of the planning process – just as it should be.

Linle Froeb

Linle Froeb is a twenty-year veteran of the events industry, and the founder of LJF Events, one of the world’s leading full-service corporate event management firms. Although the firm has little presence on social media, they’re reputation alone as made them an industry go-to. Have a look at their website, and you quickly understand the are about creating unique, engaging, dynamic, memorable experiences. In telling the potential client what they do, they’re also defining their own brand.

Tip: request the opportunity to attend an event hosted by an event company that you particularly admire. Even ask to shadow an admired planner for a day.

Next we’ve got Julius Solaris, host and founder of the Event Manager Blog, considered the leading blog in the events industry and certainly a resource we draw on. Solaris is an international speaker and author on event industry trends and innovation, and has composed several invaluable e-books on the topic.

Last on our list is Karla Dascal, founder of Conceptual Events Experiences and one of Miami’s premiere event designers. With an inspiring history and a knack for running a variety of events (from weddings to corporate conferences), she’s a consummate professional to emulate.
