The second quarter of 2022 brings exciting new customization options, improved media handling, and performance enhancements to the Everwall platform. These updates give event professionals even more tools to create engaging, accessible, and visually appealing social experiences.
Hub Design Flexibility
We’ve significantly expanded your design options for Social Media Hubs:
- Custom Background Control: Support for custom background colors and image overrides to better match your brand identity
- Variable Support in Custom Code: Added ability to use variables in custom code for more reusable designs (also available for Event Social Walls)
- Link Customization: New options to control whether elements are clickable or non-clickable (like links, usernames, hashtags, etc), giving you more control over user interaction
Caption Support
Improved accessibility and context for visual content:
- Image Caption Display: Added ability to display and style captions for images, which appear as image ALT text on Social Media Hubs for improved accessibility
- Automatic Linkification: Support for automatically converting mentions and hashtags in captions into clickable links (e.g., @user from Twitter will link directly to that profile)
Media Enhancement
Better support for rich media formats:
- Animated GIF Support: Users can now upload animated GIFs directly through the Web Form content source
- Improved Video Handling: Enhanced video display and playback on various Event Social Wall layouts
Performance Improvements
Making your social displays faster and more reliable:
- Optimized Loading & Resizing: Improved page loading and resizing behavior for Social Media Hubs
- Enhanced Web Form Throttling: Better controls to prevent spam and abuse on the Web Form and ensure smooth user experiences
New “MaxView” Feature on Social Media Hubs
Introducing a more immersive way to view social content:
- Expanded Post View: Users can now click on posts to view content and media in a larger format on their Social Media Hubs
- Enhanced Modal Experience: Improved popup interface with loading indicators for a more polished user experience

Yesterday we rolled out a significant improvement to real-time connection systems that power our social walls that reduced latency, errors, and reconnections. Most of the improvements gained were due to one notable and unexpected thing we saw—an immediate reduction to the number of dropped connections and reconnects.
